19032015 The Badminton Gang

It's not as easy as I thought to get the people together to play a session of badminton. It's not a matter of money or location, but it is more often or not work-related. Last minute project delivery or client requirements, critical system issues, or just plain over-time required.

I'm lucky tonight that we've got some new face in the group. The very much welcomed, Fanny =)

Somehow, every time there's less than 8 people, we end up being very tired. I must admit, we're no athletes who consistently train, however, I believe it's due to long hours at work that made us exhausted both mentally and physically.

05032015 Badminton Thursday!

It felt like ages since we last had our Badminton session. I had pre-booked tonight's venue via iBookCourt.com. I noticed that booking in advance is cheaper, and you don't need to go through the fuss of searching for an empty court. Booking over the counter, however, follows the standard pricing.
Sorry for the blurry picture.
My hand is shaky due to the long game we had.

This is us at Ara Courts Badminton Hall. The charges per hour per court is RM24 and RM28 are respectively for parquot and rubber flooring. Although it's quite warm (I think they need to better their ventilation) but it's way more comfortable than Taman Megah's MBA.

If you're thinking of giving it a shot, this is definitely a recommended place. But don't come here on Thursdays, because it'll mean we'll have one more gang to compete against when it comes to booking. You're more than welcome to join us at our game!

Badminton on Thursdays'

Nothing's as refreshing as good workouts, especially a long day at work. I'm out of shape; so I'm on track to getting back in shape. Why Thursdays? I have no idea, but it seems that everyone prefers Thursday. My theory on this is that Wedneday's movie night for most people, because of the movie ticket price, and Friday's boyfriend-girlfriend night (or go-home-early-to-rest-more-night). What's to support this theory of mine? Nothing much, except that my colleagues and friends seem to say the same thing, and Thursday's usually fully booked.

Currently, my team and I play at Michael's Badminton Academy (MBA) in Taman Megah, Petaling Jaya (another Taman Megah? I know right? Cheras itself has a Taman Megah, shouldn't there be a law on duplicate road names?). Whilst it's not the cheapest of courts around, it is by far the most convenient one for my colleagues and I. With the most recent upgrade on its court, the rate is going at RM26 (parquet floor) and RM31 (rubber court) per hour per court. So, if you don't have the numbers on the court playing with you, it will be quite hefty in price.

My panoramic view of the courts, I'm digging this panoramic-shoot =D
Left side people: Min & Shi Hao
Middle people: William & Kelvin
Right side people: Durai and Khuan Yew (hidden behind Durai)

We have a few seasoned players on our team.
They're not exactly pros, but they're way better than a few of us combined.
