08052015 Set Lunch at Caffe Roma, QCM

Another new cafe has opened in QCM, and so it's only right for my colleagues and I to pay them a visit! They serve Italian food apparently. So, we decided to see what they have to offer us.

This is what I ordered:

Mushroom Potato with Ice Lemon Tea and Pineapple Meringue Tart.
RM16.90

Iced Lemon Tea (non-refillable)

Mushroom Potato
Honestly, I think it would have been tasted better if the sauce wasn't so diluted

Pineapple Meringue Tart
This needed to be eaten fresh-right-out-of-the-oven,
else it'd be hard and the taste would have faded off

Taste wise - They're pretty decent, there's still room for improvement. My colleagues commented the same for their orders as well.

Environment wise - It's nice and cozy. Nice wallpapers of Rome, making you feel slightly as if you're there. The interior of the place is well design, and they are able to fit groups of 8 pax with some table arrangement.

Service wise - It took them quite a while to serve us our food. And my colleagues waited even longer to have their desserts served. Perhaps they're still new and not used to the crowd size and demand during lunch hour. We'll see again during the next visit.

Price wise - It's the average cafe price. Isn't your budget set lunch type, but it's good for anyone who'd like to try out something different, something Italian.

17042015 Lunch at Teppan-yaki Express, Food Junction

Finally, the Food Junction at Quill City Mall is operating! After months of wait! But looks like not every stall is fully opened yet. There are still many stalls to try. So, today I decided to go with the Teppan-yaki Express!

Taken with my phone's front camera, as the back camera seems to be malfunctioning.
Salmon Fried Rice
RM10
To be frank, though you can taste the salmon, but it's very plain overall.
Other menu's worth the try, but avoid this if you're look for a delicious meal.

A few knock on my phone, and I was able to take a panoramic view of the stall.
However, there's still some issue with the focus.

Teppan-yaki Express, in overall, is quite affordable, unless of course, if you choose to go for steak, the chops, etc. You can expect a decent lunch from a RM10-RM20 range.

The food function is pretty spacious, and it's quite large in size. However, the place itself is a little confusing as it's not the standard food court style.

26032015 Project Dinner at Red Lobster, QCM

Earlier tonight we had a project dinner sponsored by our directors who were personally there with us as well. Tonight's special, as we our agenda was to eat until our belly's filled. Strictly food only; no work-related topics, just pure get together to have a good time as a team.

Tropical punch - of Banana & Orange.
I felt the banana's taste superseeded than that of the orange.
Nevertheless, this drink was exactly what I needed.
Boosted up my energy level and appetite (before that I was feeling rather unwell)

Mozarella Cheesesticks~!
I would order a second serving of this, if only my stomach could take another serving!

Grilled Lobster, Shrimps and Scallops
This is really good! Absolutely must try if you're going all out for it =)

One should not forget the Bar Harbor Lobster Bake too!
This meal will definitely make you full, if you're eating it alone!

Grilled Glazed Chicken Breast
It's sweet but goes along with the chicken!

Grilled Sea Bass
This was rather salty for me, but I'd think it'll be great dish (with salt control, LOL)

A slice of delicious Cheese Cake

Caramel Apple Crisp
It's an absolutely must-try item here, especially if you have a sweet tooth!

Lobster Bisque
I don't know if it's me, but I find it VERY salty.
Others seemed to like it though.

Decadent Chocolate Brownie
I only went for the ice cream, as the brownie was all taken by others, haha

Lobster Pizza
Just had to try this, but it's alright - nothing special though.
Maybe the other menu where too overwhelming =D

08032015 Working on Sunday

It's tough to say it's a beautiful Sunday when one has to wake up at ungodly hours to do something that one should not be doing on such a wonderful rest-day. Well, apart from that, it's still a beautiful Sunday nevertheless =)

Taken with HDR mode.
While it might not be the best picture, it's actually quite good with the grey skies.

my OOTD (outfit of the day) for Sunday workday

A chocolate treat that my sister shared with me.
It's from Japan!
The taste is unique, but I didn't quite fancy it.

We pass by this restaurant almost every time we want to go QCM.
And it never cease to amaze us with the queue!

On Sunday afternoon, it's packed with people as if it was a Monday-Friday afternoon!
What's in the food?! Kaskas?? LoL

We decided not to try this food, as the queue was long, and the weather was very hot to eat outdoors. So we proceeded with our plans to eat at QCM. I just love that mall, it's nice and cold and it smells refreshing! =D We had our lunch at T-Signature, to try it out something different. Went in there to find out what I want to order, isn't available *What nonsense is that for a restaurant that had just opened a while ago, while very little customers?!* End up I had to compromise and go for another menu instead.

Left office at 7PM, it was raining very heavily but the sun was still up, behind me =)

My family had a last minute dinner arrangement with their friends.
So it's just me at home, decided to try out the instant noodle which I bought from Indonesia Trip.

I added a little too much water, but thankfully it still taste good =D

06032015 Set Lunch at Longhorn Steak House, QCM

Finally, we got ourselves a chance to try out the Longhorn Steak House at Quill City Mall (QCM)! It's been months since the opening of QCM that we had waited for it. Also, we realized that this restaurant is related to Red Lobster, and both of them are under the Secret Recipe Cakes & Cafe.

Taste wise - my colleagues and I only ordered the set lunch, so based on that, I'd say it's pretty darn good. However, they didn't serve me as per my order, and I only realized that halfway through my meal. Though, the order wasn't right, but the quality of meat was suffice to ignore the error. The portion according to my colleagues are big as well - very filling.

Service wise - the waiter that served us was very nice and friendly, however he failed at giving us the correct information on what we ordered - we were asked about our preferences of cheese, only to find out that our set lunch burgers were denied of cheese, when we were served. From order-to-delivery, it's rather slow, probably due to peak hours but then again, shouldn't they have expected this?

Environment wise - it's quite cozy, I must say and they do have enough interior space to fit a crowd of 12 pax in a row. I think it's quite well lit without feeling too warm, from the lights.

Price - the set lunch is worth it for its taste and portion. Oh by the way, the set lunches comes with unlimited serving of Honey Wheat Buns, which I must say taste so good, that many of us had more than 1 bun! You can find more pictures at EatDrinkKL. However, if you're planning to have dinner there, you might want to think twice (or thrice) if you have a budget issue. It's twice or thrice-fold (or even more!) the set lunch's price.

Steakhouse Burger (without cheese)

27022015 Back To Work

It's less than 24 hours and I'm already back to office, thankfully it's a Friday #TGIF. Things hadn't changed much, but work has piled up much for me. The first task I had this morning was to attend a progress-update meeting in which I have no idea what's going on, 'cause I was away for the past 4 days of the week. I still miss my Indonesia trip =( Why did time passed so fast! Only felt like yesterday that I was packing up for my trip.

Hello from my office!
My most important thing to do at work, was not the meetings, documents nor the emails. It was lunch! "What to eat for lunch?" and "Where to go for lunch?" These are the toughest work to do!

But alas, my team had agreed to go to Sopoong, in QCM for lunch! It's the only Korean food restaurant nearest to us which has a decent taste and good portioning for its price.

18022015 Lunch at Gantetsu Tori, QCM

I passed by Gantetsu Tori almost every time when I'm at QCM., but didn't get a chance to try it out 'cause since it's quite small a space, it's easily filled with small numbers of visitors. Since today is CNY eve, there's not many at work today, thus there's lesser people which means good news for me! I went looking around the mall for some new taste - passed by Burger Kaw Kaw (can you believe it for a normal burger set, it can go up to RM20?? @.@), Purple Toast (my team and I tried it once last year and that was the last of it, in our lifetime. Nuff said), and eventually going back to Gantetsu Tori for a meal.

Taste wise - I personally think it's quite salty for the fried Karaage and the miso soup. The rice is like those of sushi-rice grade, but other than that there's nothing much to add up about it, 'cause the portioning was rather small.

Environment wise - as mentioned it's quite small a place though. One look at the shop, and you can see all of its interior. At the time that I dined, there was only me and my colleagues, so it's comfortable enough for us. But if there were more people, it'd be feeling rather cramp, 'cause it's a few inches away from the next tables.

Price wise - if you're on a budget and you want Japanese food, this will not do for you. I think the price is alright, but was it worth it for the taste? Not for me. I'd rather for go to Sushi King or settle for 2 McDonald's lunch set.

Fried Karaage with Rice
RM15.90 (excluding tax) comes with Miso soup;
RM1.00 for Green Tea add-on

12022015 Lunch at Kluang Station, QCM

Ya, we're back at QCM for lunch again. We like going to the malls, however, they've got a limited choice of food for us. So, today we're lunching at Kluang Station. Honestly, they're my least favored place for any meal. Only because they lack in taste and consistency.

Chicken Meatball Spaghetti

Yup, as how it looks, the taste didn't differ too much either. In short, taste wasn't worth the price I paid for. The chicken meatballs, was just disappointing (but expected of). The spaghetti tasted as though they've been soaked in water for the longest time. While the environment was nice for lunch, the service was rather slow and poor. The waiters were like out-of-tune robots that barely had any facial expression. I'll be sure to skip this option unless it's the only shop that's opened that day.

The powerpuff girls?

Pretty decent =)

28012015 Movie Blackhat Min & Von

We've heard of a lot of hype about the movie, Blackhat which features my favorite artist, Lee Hom, and also Chris Hemsworth. I had planned this with Von and Min, for over a week now. I realized that Quill City Mall's (QCM) GSC's system is so new that I can't book more than 2 days in advance. So, I thought that it wasn't screening at QCM. Luckily, I went directly to the counter to ask, and managed to buy us 3 tickets, in the middle of the cinema! =)

Before going to the movie we grab dinner. The girls wanted korean food, and only choice for its taste is Sopoong. I usually go for Udon & 1/2 Gimbap set, so tonight I tried something different.

The movie itself... wasn't half as exciting as I thought it would be, especially with all the hype going around. It is also the first movie I saw that has so much close ups! Like literally, 3/4 of the movie was faces! I know Lee Hom looks good, but I didn't expect to be seeing him so closely on screens! Tang Wei was so close, that I could see some of her hidden pimples (gotta be amazed with HD quality nowadays, hahaha). A piece of advise, if you're not into Lee Hom and close-up videography, DON'T BOTHER watching this at the cinema!

I admit that I was attracted to the movie, mainly because of Lee Hom

I tried to capture a panoramic view of the cinema we're in.
But I guess I failed here.

Lunch & Dinner at Sakura Kristal, Quill City Mall

My visit to Sakura Kristal was an epic 3 day journey! Went there with colleagues, and I somehow created a sudden craze to come back to this place! Poor colleagues of mine had to visit the same restaurant 3 days in a row! =P

Biggest factor of my coming-back: 50% on all signature dishes, until 31st January 2015! We some of the most expensive signature dishes they have!

Taste wise - Good food! My colleagues and I manage to taste a number of their signature dishes, and we're all satisfied with them! There's enough taste in the curry, it's not too salty in the steak, and it's got good portion!

Service wise - slow, but tolerable. We came in at peak time - lunch and dinner time, and especially with their promotion going on, it's no surprise why so many office workers are here! However, I believe they should have foreseen this coming and be up to speed when taking orders, cleaning up and serving our food. We had to wait 30 minutes or more for a signature dish to come, during lunch! Pfft!

Price wise - worth the money (based on the 50%), I'd say. Even with their upcoming lunch sets in February, we've done some calculation, it's still worth it. I've compare the price against Tappers, Kluang Kopitiam, Sopoong and Sushi King. Sang Har Noodles, normally priced at RM26, is only RM13 after discount - the portion is big, with 3 half big prawns. Worth visiting? You be the judge of it.

Environment wise - it's cozy and clean. I think it's because it's new. And I hope they keep it up for as long as they're open. It's quite comfortable and it's not too noisy. They have varieties of seating arrangement - good enough to fit 2 pax up to 12 pax (or maybe more). They've got a pretty good concept.

1st day - Dinner

Nope, couldn't get the Sang Har Noodles. So went with fish dish instead.

2nd day - Lunch

Still couldn't get the Sang Har Noodles. Went with the chicken dish instead.

3rd Day - Lunch

Finally! I pre-booked my Sang Har Noodles from the day before!
A man with determination to gets his meal, will definitely get it!

Yes, it is worth it!

12012015 Late Dinner with Colleagues at Wawan Cafe

Overtime (OT) is not a question in my field of work, especially when there are system-bug fixes to verified and delivered to customers. I won't want to bore you with the details of my work nor how it is done. Keep it short, we have to work OT every now and then. Tonight due to immense work, we nearly forgotten our dinner.

It was about 9PM before my colleagues and I figured out that we were hungry. So, we thought hard and long about what we wanted to eat before a suggestion came up to dine at Quill City Mall. Going there wasn't an issue to us; WHAT to eat there is the big question, especially at this time.

We went there and walked around looking a shop that's not already closing, and we stumbled upon Wawan Cafe. The menu's not too bad, especially the set that's priced starting from RM8.90! Affordable, eh?

A photo posted by Jeffro Ong (@jeffroong) on

As soon as food came, we were all chowing down our food =P

Honestly, the food is priced reasonably but the taste is another matter to question. The food we ordered were pretty dry, and almost tasteless. Perhaps it's due to the shop almost closing? I don't know but we were lucky that we could still order the set (although according to the menu, they actually stop the set ordering at 9PM). However, we weren't too satisfied with the taste. Almost to say, we'll not return to this place even though it's affordable.

07012015 Dinner with Newly Wedded Chee Yung & Pauline at Sopoong, Quill City Mall

It's less than a week since their wedding, I'm already seeing Chee Yung & Pauline at work (yes, they're my colleagues and my seniors too). We all work in KL, but at different parts of town. However, there's a new mall that was recently opened, Quill City Mall, and it's pretty darn close by my work place.

So, the couple decided to catch a movie at the mall and I joined them for dinner. Was I the lightbulb? I sure am! (In case if you're wondering what lightbulb means, it's taken (translated) directly from Cantonese word, which actually means 3rd Party Person). If not because of work which I had to attend immediately after dinner, I would have gladly joined them for a movie too #behpaiseh

We dined at the Korean restaurant, Soopong. It's busier during lunch time, but a little more subtle during dinner. We were glad because of the environment, we were able to catch up, chat and laughed. The service was good too =)

Udon & 1/2 Gimbap
RM16.90
It's pretty decent, and due to the way it is served, it remained very warm for a long time ;)
(I can't take spicy food, so this was the only menu that I could order =/ )
Check out their FB page as it's updated regularly

taken directly from their page.

After dinner, I went back to my office and continued my work. Some of my colleagues are still at the office when I got back. Whilst waiting for some computer operation to complete, I took the chance to change my phone's screen protector. Had to sacrifice my existing one, to put on a new one - I'm using tempered glass type screen protector.

Hulk smash!
