25072015 Big Bang Concert in Malaysia!

It's finally concert day! After the long wait, we're finally going to see Big Bang live in person! And even better, Min & I won ourselves sound-check passes (means we get to see them do a rehearsal before the main event!) OMGOSH! Never have I been this lucky!! Amazingly I didn't expect myself to be this excited!

Because of the sound-check passes, Min & I had to be there early to collect them. When we got there, there were quite a number of people at the venue already. Talk about being early, lol.

Take a good look at it =D
Hehehe

Min's excited about it!

Queuing up for the sound-check!

Wait there's another queue... for the subway!

And then another queue within the stadium, just outside the stage area.

Finally, we got in.
However, Min and I got separated, so we were standing at different places.

While I looked for me, I had to selfie first.
It's a once-in-a-lifetime chance!

Panoramic view of how it looks like from front to back.

Big Bang appears on stage!

Look at all the pretty lights! This is just a small part of what's to be expected from their later on.

Seungri being very sporting, allowing us to take close up pictures of him!

Taeyang too! See him posing there? xD

The sound-check only lasted about 15-20 minutes?!!
And I finally found Min. It is a must to take a selfie again!
Hehe =D

Banana Chocolate 'pancake'
I got quite hungry but had no idea what I want to eat (besides the buns which I had bought much earlier in the morning). Saw this unique looking food, and ordered myself one of it.

Then, it was time for us to go into the concert stage area.
Again, this is not to be missed! =D

Panoramic view from where we were seated.
We were actually very close to the stage!

Showtime baby!

Showing off Min's lightstick!

They're not only good looking, but their performance is amazing!

G-Dragon style!

T.O.P

The 'bridge' actually separates and combines again!

G-Dragon peace sign!

The concert experience is indescribable. Dae-bak! Even that word doesn't come close to expressing how I felt after the concert. I was more than excited, amazed, happy, thrilled and hungry. So, naturally the first thing I wanted to do is to get some food for the both of us.

Went to Cafe Korea in Sri Petaling and ordered us some delightful light bites =)

Kimchi Pancake (new item)
RM8

Cheese Sticks (looks like popiah stuffed with cheese)

04022015 Late Dinner at Jin Xua Hong Kong Dim Sum, Damansara Jaya

Back to work, and already we're all working our butts off again. Tonight, we got off work rather late for dinner. Looking at my phone, I noticed that it's close to 9PM. My poor colleagues did not even have their dinner on time over the past weeks. I don't know what I'm able to do for them, but I should find a way to get them to have dinner on time. I'll figure out something in the process.

Tonight, I felt like having Dim Sum and brought Min along with me. We were both very hungry! We went to Jin Xua Hong Kong Dim Sum in Damansara Jaya.

Left: Salted Shrimp Scallops
Right: Deep Fried Turnip Cake

Spareribs Congee

Taste wise - I was pretty disappointed when I took my first bite of the most anticipated Salted Shrimp Scallops. While many have mentioned that it's a must try, I find it lesser than plain. It was definitely salted, but there was no taste of shrimp and if I didn't knew there were scallops there, I probably wouldn't even noticed it. Perhaps this place is too commercialized, because the other dishes that we ordered didn't even meet our taste buds halfway. The congee was the only one that stood out in terms of taste, but I can get better and tastier ones from Ming Tien's Foodcourt. The worst thing a dim sum shop could do is to mess up the sweet sauce, and Jin Xua's DJ's Branch messed it up REALLY BAD!

Service wise - the waiters there were half dead. And the time delivery from paper-order-to-table was too long (15-20 minutes). I was already starving to begin with, and the long-wait I had to endure made it worse. Even the service at the dim sum shop at Jalan Ipoh moves way faster than the waiters here.

Environment wise - it's cool and comfortable, with lots of space between 1 table and another. It wasn't prime time when we had our dinner, so I'd say it's a nice place to be at, for dinner.

Price wise - slightly pricier than the dim sum shops at my area, but for this level of taste, you'll have a better bet anywhere else. I'm just surprised that this shop is still in operation. I wouldn't be going there again, that's for sure.

26012015 Late Dinner at Restaurant Tiong Hokkien Mee

One thing about getting off work late is that it's pretty hard to find decent food around my office area. Tonight is no exception. Went slightly out of the way, Damansara Uptown (DU). Clueless of what to eat, I turned to Min, and she had the same expression as I did - Clueless. Went around DU, I decided to just got for plain noodles. Found a parking, and started walking. I heard in DU there's famous Hokkien Mee, but I wasn't sure which shop. Our stomachs were grumbling, so we went to the first restaurant we came across, Tiong's Hokkien Mee.

We ordered 2 people's portion, and it was RM15. Honestly, it's kinda pricier than I thought for Hokkien Mee. It was rather normal, nothing quite exceptional. You can probably get this off any hawker stall, for lesser than what I paid.

I noticed everyone seated around us were ordering something similar, Fried Chicken Wings to go along with their main dish. So, I looked at Min, asked if she's interested in trying. She gave a big nod, haha. It's RM2.80 per wing, with minimum order of a pair. Each of us a wing, so that makes it RM5.60 for a pair of fried chicken wings. Slightly pricier than the BBQ Chicken Wings we had a few days back.

23012015 Late Dinner at Wood & Steel, Kota Damansara

It's Friday people! And after work, it's time to look for some good food! =D Today, I decided to pay Wood & Steel a visit!
It was kinda late for dinner when we got there. But thankfully they still have dinner menus on. The unfortunate part was that they retire the Blanket Beef! Oh, no! I asked the person in charge, and he said it was due to rather poor feedback from the audience. Really? I was really looking forward to it (T_T)

Well, Min and I decided to order other dishes instead. We were famished! Thankfully, it didn't take them too long to serve us our food.

Taste wise - they're really good. I don't know if it's because we're really hungry at that time, or it's just what the doctor recommended! But Min and I were pleased about it. However, the portioning is not enough. We weren't even full! Usually no matter how hungry, the portion of food we order will suffice, but after finishing these two plates, we still had space for more.

Service wise - they're pretty quick and clean as well. At least the person in charge is honest and waiter knows what to recommend. I know of places whereby the waiter doesn't even know what's the signature dish!

Price wise - they're quite pricey, that I can tell you. Not up to fine-dining standards, but kinda heavy for a cafe item.

Environment wise - cozy and comfortable. It's not too big a shop, so you might have to cramp a little whether you're sitting at a couch or at a table. I noticed the table size isn't that big anyways.

Because we're still hungry but didn't want to eat too much, we had to go on the look for something else. I suggested chicken wings! Where? DU Cafe! RM2.60 per wing!

Min seems to like the Chili sauce a lot, although it's very spicy =)

12012015 Late Dinner with Colleagues at Wawan Cafe

Overtime (OT) is not a question in my field of work, especially when there are system-bug fixes to verified and delivered to customers. I won't want to bore you with the details of my work nor how it is done. Keep it short, we have to work OT every now and then. Tonight due to immense work, we nearly forgotten our dinner.

It was about 9PM before my colleagues and I figured out that we were hungry. So, we thought hard and long about what we wanted to eat before a suggestion came up to dine at Quill City Mall. Going there wasn't an issue to us; WHAT to eat there is the big question, especially at this time.

We went there and walked around looking a shop that's not already closing, and we stumbled upon Wawan Cafe. The menu's not too bad, especially the set that's priced starting from RM8.90! Affordable, eh?

A photo posted by Jeffro Ong (@jeffroong) on

As soon as food came, we were all chowing down our food =P

Honestly, the food is priced reasonably but the taste is another matter to question. The food we ordered were pretty dry, and almost tasteless. Perhaps it's due to the shop almost closing? I don't know but we were lucky that we could still order the set (although according to the menu, they actually stop the set ordering at 9PM). However, we weren't too satisfied with the taste. Almost to say, we'll not return to this place even though it's affordable.
