29052015 Min's Pre-Birthday Dinner at Kai's Plato, Kota Damansara

Quietly behind her back, I organized a birthday dinner for Min with our colleagues. There were some hiccups and misunderstanding, but I think I had them sorted out? I'm truly sorry and I wished for the best of things. No hard feelings to anyone ya, if there's any unresolved issues, please let me know.

So, I got some help from Von who recommended this a seafood restaurant, and also offered to buy the birthday cake as well. So, so thankful to Von! So, I made a booking at Kai's Plato, and pre-ordered the platter (see more in the pictures below) to be shared.

Why all the hassle? I figured because of the recent workload that Min has on her plate, I'd like to change that plate around for something nicer. Plus, she likes surprises. She wouldn't see this coming from a mile away =D

A reminder to tell me of her birthday
No, it's not an alarm, but I think it's sync-ed from FB if not mistaken.

We were late for our booking due to slow traffic, but I had already informed the boss of the place about it. The boss was pretty cool and left our tabled reserved for us. Von & Sen Yee arrived earlier than me. The rest came in just moments are Min & I arrived. Yet, we still have to wait for our pre-order item to arrive.

It's a Friday night, and I guess that's why there's so many people here at Kai's Plato!

Captain Platter (for 4 pax)
RM229.80
When our dinner arrives, it was astonishing!

Top Layer: Claims, Squid, Prawns, Cheese-baked Mussels and baby octopus
Behold the eye-opening sight of wonderous seafood!

2nd Layer: Crabs, Scallops & Lobster
Unfortunately one of the crabs went bad,
but thankfully the boss had it replaced for us almost immediately.
This is good service!

3rd Layer: Giant Crab
This was additional order, RM68 per crab

Just to give you an idea of how big the crab was

The last layer: Soup, to be mixed with noodles!
At the end of the seafood savory, there's soup which is to be mixed with noodles (provided separately, but it's under the Captain's Platter set)

The wall decorations were very unique as patrons of the restaurant
can stick their scallop shells on the walls.

and yes we had red wine, on the house!
Because it was Min's birthday =)

I wanted to try some artistic shot of the crabs, prawns and lobsters' remains

Not sure if it works, but there's some feel in it, I hope?

We were very satisfied with our seafood meal =)

Happy birthday my princess, Min =)

Another birthday shot of my princess

Then the restaurant's waiters brought this over to our table!

The group shot!
Von had to leave early so she wasn't in the picture =/

Surely can't miss out our picture together!
Thanks Sen Yee for reminding, lol

This picture went viral on FB,
where most of our colleagues realized that we're *finally* in a relationship.
lol xD

Of course I can't let this moment pass by.
The tradition must go on!

 Wefie of us!
From left: Kate, Cheah Xien, Mah Sen Yee, Wan Pin, Min, and Me

After our meals and cakes, we had our very own color-your-scallop-shells session.
Then we stuck them on the wall together with the others!

The panoramic view of the interior

If you don't mind splurging, I'd recommend to try out this. The experience is worth it. However, you need to be mindful of the portion. When the set states 4 pax, it is really meant for 4 people and no more (even if you're a small eater). Also, take note that the service is really slow when there's many people in the restaurant. This was the only issue when we were there, even our snacks came in pretty slow. But overall, this is a fine place to dine at. You might want to consider to do a booking in advance if you want to dine there, as I understand that they're pretty packed, especially Fridays nights and Weekends.

22052015 Dinner at Dreamz Bakery, Kota Damansara

I don't frequent Kota Damansara (KD), but off late since it's quite easy to access from my workplace, I've been going around KD a lot. And then one day, I spotted a bakery place. To my surprise they doesn't just sell bread and those related item, they cater for dinner menu too! So tonight, I decided to give them a try. Heard from Min, that their food is pretty decent.

Spaghetti Carbonara
RM12.90
One of the best spaghetti I've tried so far!
Very creamy, and the taste is just nice!

Even Min's starting to drool!
We can't start eating, until the camera's satisfied first =P

Japanese Curry Chicken Rice
RM17.90
Wasn't quite up to my expectation based on its looks, but it's still good.

Tofu Cheesecake
RM9.90
This is surprisingly good!
Not many places makes it well.
The only other place I know does a good job (but at certain branches)
is Coffea Coffee.

Us being us

Min trying a different look

Min: I thought we're doing ady?

Min: Well, OK last shot ya..

Min: I thought that was the last shot ady (=...=)

Unforunately, there's no last shot when it comes to her =D Anyways, apologies that I digressed. Dreamz Bakery is a cozy place to return to. The staff is friendly, and warm too. The food overall is good for its price. A place worth coming again to try other menu =)

17032015 Dinner at Coronar Del Mar

One of my colleagues suggested me to get a dinner offer at Groupon for Corona Del Mar. By first impression it actually looks good, so once I got an OK-no-problem with Min, I purchased the deal. Alright then, let's skip right through and check out the things that was part of the deal.

Our dinner is a 3-course Mediterranean dinner package which includes:
2 Starts
2 Main Course
1 Dessert
2 Drinks
All these for only RM28.00, so I figured it's a pretty darn good deal.

Of course besides that, I was also attracted by the highlights:

Panoramic view of the restaurant's interior

Soup of the day - Pumpkin soup

Green Salad with Balsamic Vinegar Dressing

Black Pepper Lamb Chop

Salmon Tagliatelle

Peach & Banana Tart

Min & Me

Taste wise - well, it didn't taste as good as it looks. I'd think the chef most likely started cooking about a week ago? The salad tasted weird, the lamb chop was over done and very salty (some parts tasted like roasted pork), and the salmon was actually very small compared to how it looked like it in the picture. The drinks very pretty flat. But the one thing we were rather OK with was the the dessert. If there one word to summarize the taste, it would be "Lousy"

Service wise - very disappointing though. I felt like we weren't welcomed at all. When I passed the waiter the groupon voucher, they looked at me with a weird stare and being very confused about the voucher. They asked each other and finally allowed us to sit down. Since the restaurant was rather empty, I wanted to choose a certain table because it had more comfortable seats but they said it was reserved. That was OK, until another customer said the same, but were given the "reserved" table instead. Double standard right?

Environment wise - it's rather dim inside the restaurant but still quite comfortable as it's not too noisy. It's a nice to place to dine, if you don't mind the service nor the quality of the food.

23012015 Late Dinner at Wood & Steel, Kota Damansara

It's Friday people! And after work, it's time to look for some good food! =D Today, I decided to pay Wood & Steel a visit!
It was kinda late for dinner when we got there. But thankfully they still have dinner menus on. The unfortunate part was that they retire the Blanket Beef! Oh, no! I asked the person in charge, and he said it was due to rather poor feedback from the audience. Really? I was really looking forward to it (T_T)

Well, Min and I decided to order other dishes instead. We were famished! Thankfully, it didn't take them too long to serve us our food.

Taste wise - they're really good. I don't know if it's because we're really hungry at that time, or it's just what the doctor recommended! But Min and I were pleased about it. However, the portioning is not enough. We weren't even full! Usually no matter how hungry, the portion of food we order will suffice, but after finishing these two plates, we still had space for more.

Service wise - they're pretty quick and clean as well. At least the person in charge is honest and waiter knows what to recommend. I know of places whereby the waiter doesn't even know what's the signature dish!

Price wise - they're quite pricey, that I can tell you. Not up to fine-dining standards, but kinda heavy for a cafe item.

Environment wise - cozy and comfortable. It's not too big a shop, so you might have to cramp a little whether you're sitting at a couch or at a table. I noticed the table size isn't that big anyways.

Because we're still hungry but didn't want to eat too much, we had to go on the look for something else. I suggested chicken wings! Where? DU Cafe! RM2.60 per wing!

Min seems to like the Chili sauce a lot, although it's very spicy =)

Finally, Sen Yee (MSY) is able to join us although it was getting late. We waited for her to order a waffle to try together! Min and I were quite full especially dinner + supper was quite a mouth full.

Sensational Waffle, signature dessert
This has got to be one of the best waffles I've tasted!
Love the blend of peach, kiwi and mango ice cream; the waffle's nice done too!
RM14.90

Did you for a moment though how Min and I took the earlier pose?
I told MSY, my phone has a 'Cheese' camera-mode.
Whenever you say 'Cheese', it will automatically snap a picture :)
She didn't believe it at first, until she gave it a try with us.

ALL: Say Cheese!

MSY: Wah this 'Cheese' mode really works

ALL: Say cheese again!

MSY: Let me try, Cheese!

MSY: Cheese again leh~!

MSY: Wow this 'Cheese' mode is so geng (good)!

MSY: Cheese~~ hahaha

MSY: eh, *doubts* sure ah?

MSY: Che...ese?

ME: Eh say cheese lah

MSY: CHEESE!

She eventually found out how it 'works'.
Can you?

Anyways, there is actually a waffle named Cheesy Cheeze Waffle.
We'll be trying it out another time :)
