Panoramic Shot with iPhone 6

I didn't quite believe that iPhone 6 was that all great with its camera, as what is being talked about everywhere. Well, at least not until I tried out myself with my colleague's new iPhone 6. He did a whole lot of research to carefully select between iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

No, I'm not about to review what iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus can and cannot do. I just want to share what I had recently done with it - I took a panoramic shot, from the building where I was working, of the city view. It is really, really good!

30012015 Dinner at Mad About Coco, Publika

I saw Mad About Coco, some months back and even talked about it. Only a few weeks back did I managed to get a good deal off Groupon - cash vouchers =D So who are with me tonight? Min, Von & Jess!

Taste wise - for what we ordered, though not very filling, it's really good! I wanna come and try their soft shell crab menu on the next round!

Service wise - it's alright, it's not too slow. After I ordered, Min and I could still chat a little while waiting for Von & Jess to arrive. We're able to take a good look at the place too.

Environment wise - it's comfortable for small groups to larger groups of 5-6 pax. In a place like this, you can enjoy your chat after your meals. There are a lot of props for you to play with and selfie/wefie. We know we did and enjoyed ourselves!

Price wise - it's not the cheapest deal in town. So, if without the cash vouchers, I'd think twice first about dining here. However, you're paying for the experience and environment I guess. It averages about RM20 per dish, I think. If you're trying anything, make sure you're some special menu instead of the common ones - perhaps the soft shell crab wrap? =)

Badminton on Thursdays'

Nothing's as refreshing as good workouts, especially a long day at work. I'm out of shape; so I'm on track to getting back in shape. Why Thursdays? I have no idea, but it seems that everyone prefers Thursday. My theory on this is that Wedneday's movie night for most people, because of the movie ticket price, and Friday's boyfriend-girlfriend night (or go-home-early-to-rest-more-night). What's to support this theory of mine? Nothing much, except that my colleagues and friends seem to say the same thing, and Thursday's usually fully booked.

Currently, my team and I play at Michael's Badminton Academy (MBA) in Taman Megah, Petaling Jaya (another Taman Megah? I know right? Cheras itself has a Taman Megah, shouldn't there be a law on duplicate road names?). Whilst it's not the cheapest of courts around, it is by far the most convenient one for my colleagues and I. With the most recent upgrade on its court, the rate is going at RM26 (parquet floor) and RM31 (rubber court) per hour per court. So, if you don't have the numbers on the court playing with you, it will be quite hefty in price.

My panoramic view of the courts, I'm digging this panoramic-shoot =D
Left side people: Min & Shi Hao
Middle people: William & Kelvin
Right side people: Durai and Khuan Yew (hidden behind Durai)

We have a few seasoned players on our team.
They're not exactly pros, but they're way better than a few of us combined.

28012015 Movie Blackhat Min & Von

We've heard of a lot of hype about the movie, Blackhat which features my favorite artist, Lee Hom, and also Chris Hemsworth. I had planned this with Von and Min, for over a week now. I realized that Quill City Mall's (QCM) GSC's system is so new that I can't book more than 2 days in advance. So, I thought that it wasn't screening at QCM. Luckily, I went directly to the counter to ask, and managed to buy us 3 tickets, in the middle of the cinema! =)

Before going to the movie we grab dinner. The girls wanted korean food, and only choice for its taste is Sopoong. I usually go for Udon & 1/2 Gimbap set, so tonight I tried something different.

The movie itself... wasn't half as exciting as I thought it would be, especially with all the hype going around. It is also the first movie I saw that has so much close ups! Like literally, 3/4 of the movie was faces! I know Lee Hom looks good, but I didn't expect to be seeing him so closely on screens! Tang Wei was so close, that I could see some of her hidden pimples (gotta be amazed with HD quality nowadays, hahaha). A piece of advise, if you're not into Lee Hom and close-up videography, DON'T BOTHER watching this at the cinema!

I admit that I was attracted to the movie, mainly because of Lee Hom

I tried to capture a panoramic view of the cinema we're in.
But I guess I failed here.

Kexin's Post Birthday

My colleague, Kexin is a very quiet person. If no one posted about her birthday, none of us, including myself will know about it. Gotta thank her boyfriend for spilling the beans in FB. Since we were pretty unprepared for the occasion, the only thing we could do is treat her lunch. My assistant manager offered to buy her a piece of cake instead.

This is my team. Not everyone's here though.

I started a tradition last December at Von's birthday. At any birthday, be it a simple meal or a big celebration, if I'm in it, there's no way anyone will run away from it. It's a facial accessory, can you guess it? =P

She looks great doesn't she?

Kexin: "Wah beh tahan ah this glasses!
(translation: wah, I can't stand this glasses!)
I look horrible!"

Wern Jiang: Ya I think so too..

27012015 Takeaway Dinner From Restaurant Ong Lai (Goh Kee)

We're back at a crucial decision making time! "What to eat for dinner?" I decided to roll back my options and go back to Ong Lai. Seriously, if you're not familiar with Jalan Raja Laut or Jalan Chow Kit area, you'll never be able to find this place. I didn't even know such restaurant existed until my colleague told me about it on how he accidentally found the place while looking for dinner options.

It's kinda hidden in an alley (address at the end of this post). It serves one of the best Fried Rice in town. Though slightly pricey, now RM8 per pack (then was RM7), it has squid, prawns, and plenty of chu yao zha (crispy pork lard, guess what, I just knew of this, hahaha) to go along with it. Should you give it a try at least once? DEFINITELY!

26012015 Late Dinner at Restaurant Tiong Hokkien Mee

One thing about getting off work late is that it's pretty hard to find decent food around my office area. Tonight is no exception. Went slightly out of the way, Damansara Uptown (DU). Clueless of what to eat, I turned to Min, and she had the same expression as I did - Clueless. Went around DU, I decided to just got for plain noodles. Found a parking, and started walking. I heard in DU there's famous Hokkien Mee, but I wasn't sure which shop. Our stomachs were grumbling, so we went to the first restaurant we came across, Tiong's Hokkien Mee.

We ordered 2 people's portion, and it was RM15. Honestly, it's kinda pricier than I thought for Hokkien Mee. It was rather normal, nothing quite exceptional. You can probably get this off any hawker stall, for lesser than what I paid.

I noticed everyone seated around us were ordering something similar, Fried Chicken Wings to go along with their main dish. So, I looked at Min, asked if she's interested in trying. She gave a big nod, haha. It's RM2.80 per wing, with minimum order of a pair. Each of us a wing, so that makes it RM5.60 for a pair of fried chicken wings. Slightly pricier than the BBQ Chicken Wings we had a few days back.

26012015 Lunch at Meal Station, Maju Junction

My team and I have been around Jalan Raja & Jalan Chow Kit area for more than 6 months now (we're based at client's building now), and it's getting more difficult to select our lunch options - there are only a few good ones, and the others are just plain/ordinary, if not lousy/overpriced.

So today we're back at Meal Station, Maju Junction. And my usual pick, would be Nasi Lemak Ayam Goreng. Thankfully the portion hasn't reduced, but from the last time I saw the menu, it went up by RM2.00, to RM12.00 (excluding tax). Maybe it's more dense in this area, that they could afford to hike up the price by that much and still have many people visiting this place?

Anyways, I'll show you how it looks, and you'll be judge of it. It taste like any ordinary Nasi Lemak with Fried Chicken, but with sweeter sambal. Oh, I forgot to mention, it does come with Ice Lemon Tea (or if you prefer, Jasmine Tea).

Weekend Eat Out with Min

Went over to Min's place to help her out with her laptop on Saturday. Cleared up her laptop's 'trashy' items and cleaned up her laptop using IOBIT's Advanced System Care software. A few hours later of work, we were testing out the laptop, and although the laptop was working smoother, it still had some glitches especially when playing video - it produces some metal cranking sound after a while. Had no idea of what else to do, and feeling hungry, Min and I decided to get some food - it was time for dinner.

Min wanted to eat Korean, and I wanted to check out the food around SS15, so we went to Street Cafe at Subang SS15. When it comes to Subang area, you gotta bear with the traffic. Finding a parking lot was tough! We took more than 15 minutes around the block looking for a parking.

A photo posted by Jeffro Ong (@jeffroong) on

Tasted good. Although it was spicy for me, but I kept on eating! Min's pretty happy with her food as well =) Service was quick and the place is clean. The price is pretty reasonable as well. It's as the review states, they play the latest music videos! So, a thumbs up for this place!

On Sunday, after dinner time, Min had a sudden crave for ice cream. She asked if I was interested to go to Inside Scoop. I was definitely a Yes for dessert, as I heard from my colleague that Inside Scoop serves the best ice cream in town. So, Min and I decided to pay the place a visit!

That's Min!
lol xD

Yup, the waffle and ice cream combination is amazing! =D Still a little pricey for an ice cream, but hey it's a premium treat. Just in case if you're wondering how much it is, well you can almost buy 2 box (of 3 sticks) of Magnum ice cream on promotion.

25012015 Dinner at Sushi Mentai

My family decided to go to Sushi Mentai for dinner, telling me that it's pretty cheap sushi. And so we went =)

Taste wise - pretty good and fresh. My mum likes it a lot! I think the portion per piece is big! A few plates and I was already kinda full. They did my soft shell crab temaki pretty well, so I'm pretty pleased with them.

Service wise - they're quick to take order and they're friendly too. Although the staff that served me were foreign workers, they could still explain to me some of the items on the menu and I could understand them. It took a while to get some order and I guess it's because they only prepare those items upon order - which is a plus point for me. I ordered egg roll and boy was it "fresh from the pan" =)

Price wise - cheap and affordable! For the items on the conveyor belt, it was either RM1.80 or RM2.80 per plate, so there's many varieties for you to pick and they are really good. That's good news for everyone! For the items off the conveyor belt (including the seasonal menu), it's affordable and still slightly cheaper than that of Sushi King, Sushi Zanmai, etc.

23012015 Late Dinner at Wood & Steel, Kota Damansara

It's Friday people! And after work, it's time to look for some good food! =D Today, I decided to pay Wood & Steel a visit!
It was kinda late for dinner when we got there. But thankfully they still have dinner menus on. The unfortunate part was that they retire the Blanket Beef! Oh, no! I asked the person in charge, and he said it was due to rather poor feedback from the audience. Really? I was really looking forward to it (T_T)

Well, Min and I decided to order other dishes instead. We were famished! Thankfully, it didn't take them too long to serve us our food.

Taste wise - they're really good. I don't know if it's because we're really hungry at that time, or it's just what the doctor recommended! But Min and I were pleased about it. However, the portioning is not enough. We weren't even full! Usually no matter how hungry, the portion of food we order will suffice, but after finishing these two plates, we still had space for more.

Service wise - they're pretty quick and clean as well. At least the person in charge is honest and waiter knows what to recommend. I know of places whereby the waiter doesn't even know what's the signature dish!

Price wise - they're quite pricey, that I can tell you. Not up to fine-dining standards, but kinda heavy for a cafe item.

Environment wise - cozy and comfortable. It's not too big a shop, so you might have to cramp a little whether you're sitting at a couch or at a table. I noticed the table size isn't that big anyways.

Location:
33G, Jalan PJU 5/20e, Kota Damansara

Because we're still hungry but didn't want to eat too much, we had to go on the look for something else. I suggested chicken wings! Where? DU Cafe! RM2.60 per wing!

Lunch & Dinner at Sakura Kristal, Quill City Mall

My visit to Sakura Kristal was an epic 3 day journey! Went there with colleagues, and I somehow created a sudden craze to come back to this place! Poor colleagues of mine had to visit the same restaurant 3 days in a row! =P

Biggest factor of my coming-back: 50% on all signature dishes, until 31st January 2015! We some of the most expensive signature dishes they have!

Taste wise - Good food! My colleagues and I manage to taste a number of their signature dishes, and we're all satisfied with them! There's enough taste in the curry, it's not too salty in the steak, and it's got good portion!

Service wise - slow, but tolerable. We came in at peak time - lunch and dinner time, and especially with their promotion going on, it's no surprise why so many office workers are here! However, I believe they should have foreseen this coming and be up to speed when taking orders, cleaning up and serving our food. We had to wait 30 minutes or more for a signature dish to come, during lunch! Pfft!

Price wise - worth the money (based on the 50%), I'd say. Even with their upcoming lunch sets in February, we've done some calculation, it's still worth it. I've compare the price against Tappers, Kluang Kopitiam, Sopoong and Sushi King. Sang Har Noodles, normally priced at RM26, is only RM13 after discount - the portion is big, with 3 half big prawns. Worth visiting? You be the judge of it.

Environment wise - it's cozy and clean. I think it's because it's new. And I hope they keep it up for as long as they're open. It's quite comfortable and it's not too noisy. They have varieties of seating arrangement - good enough to fit 2 pax up to 12 pax (or maybe more). They've got a pretty good concept.

1st day - Dinner

Nope, couldn't get the Sang Har Noodles. So went with fish dish instead.

2nd day - Lunch

Still couldn't get the Sang Har Noodles. Went with the chicken dish instead.

3rd Day - Lunch

Finally! I pre-booked my Sang Har Noodles from the day before!
A man with determination to gets his meal, will definitely get it!

Yes, it is worth it!

20012015 Dinner with Mellie at MyBurgerLab, Sunway

It's been a long time since I met Mellie (not that's not her real name), and I was in luck when I caught hold of her last week! We decided on a date to meet up and I suggested to go to MyBurgerLab, Sunway.

We had one of the longest chat in years! She's been with college, and well, I've been busy with work. I'm to be blamed as I should have made more time with my friends, especially with Mellie. We knew each other back many years, and I think back then, I was still in my varsity days. Though we didn't get to hang out that often (due to distance), we chat quite frequently. She's one of my closest buddies =)

Weekdays they are packed with students.
The picture tells the story~

Not sure why these currency bills are stuck on the wall,
but they can't be used since they've been scribbled on!

The fries!

Swisstake! Ordered by Mellie

A photo posted by Jeffro Ong (@jeffroong) on

The environment's pretty good and comfortable, same with their other branches as well. The interior's well taken care of. I can guess the staff here worked hard to ensure their customers comfort is being taken care of.

Food wise - Not every burger will meet your requirement. Some's really good, some's good and some's so-so. I guess that's cause of the hype that it's built, and the way the waiter promotes it, it sorta build a certain expectation. And when that expectation is not met, you get disappointed. In this case, the Hulk disappointed me. I'd stick with Beautiful Mess or go with Swisstake.

Price wise - They're not the cheapest burgers around. I ordered 2 burger sets (they come with fries and bottomless drinks) and it cost me nearly RM50. They're not very big of a portion for me, but for an average person's dinner, it should suffice.

Service wise - I love the staff/crew here! They smile, they're attentive, and they're friendly! They're pretty quick at serving the burgers as well. I thought I had to wait a very long time since I was 12 numbers away but to my surprise, within the next 10 minutes or so, they called up my number. "FOOD IS READY FOR PICK UP" was interpreted when I saw my number being called up =)

Environment wise - I think any young chap or lad will like it. It's simple, it's decent, it's clean. There's enough room to move about and you have enough space between one table and the other. It's not too noisy either, unless the crowd's really excitement about their food or they're just having a really good time.
